FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Lake of the Ozarks
Lake of the Ozarks Navigation Restrictions For This Weekend's Offshore Super Series Races
The Missouri State Water Patrol would like to remind boaters of the upcoming Lake of the Ozarks Offshore Super Series boat races on Lake of the Ozarks. The event will take place from approximately 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27. Navigational traffic will be restricted to no wake, idle speed from approximately the 9 mile mark to the 5 mile mark. The no wake area will be enforced up to 30 minutes after the last race. The race course itself will stretch from approximately the 8.5 mile mark to the 5.5 mile mark of the main channel.
All efforts will be made to minimize inconvenience to boaters navigating in the area. There will be temporary delays on the north side of the main channel just downstream from the mouth of the Gravois Arm during the actual races. The south side of the channel will remain open to idle speed boating traffic during the entire event.
Anchoring will be allowed on the north side of the channel from North Buck Creek Cove at the 8 mile mark to the mouth of the Gravois Arm near the 6 mile mark. Anchoring will also be allowed on the south side of the channel from just downstream of Toad Cove at the 7 mile mark to the mouth of Cornett Branch Cove just downstream from the 6 mile mark. Anchoring will be limited to these areas to provide a safe environment for spectators.
We recommend all boaters use caution while traveling to and from the event. The Missouri State Water Patrol will have numerous patrol boats in the area to assist boaters. In addition, several boats from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and from local fire protection districts will help direct boaters in the area. Volunteers from the event will also help direct boaters in the area.
